Copyrighting is something I never really gave too much thought to.  I realize now the importance of it and the reasons behind it.  As future teachers, we want to encourage creativity and the development of original work. It is the creativity and development of original work by today’s students that will shape our future.   Copyrighting helps encourage and protect this.

It is important as teachers that we model good digital citizenship when developing instructional content by informing the students when and why we are using copyrighted works.  We can explain to them how we were granted permission to use those works and walk them through the process.  By walking them through the process, they will know where to go when they want to request the use of a copyrighted work themselves.  The students are learning by doing!

One of the objectives of this module was to discuss copyrighting and the impact it has on teaching and learning in today’s classroom.  The assignments helped me accomplish that.
